Heritage Escape: Delhi to Jaipur
Munnar – Thekkady – AlleppeyINTRODUCTION
SHORT ITINERARY
A three-day trip covering Delhi and Jaipur is a dynamic itinerary that requires efficient time management to see all the major sights. The road travel between the cities takes a significant amount of time, so to make the most of your journey and ensure you can complete the entire tour as planned, it is highly recommended that you adhere to a specific arrival and departure schedule.
For this itinerary to be successful, your arrival at the Delhi airport or train station on Day 1 must be in the early morning. This allows ample time for the 5-6 hour drive to Jaipur and to start the sightseeing tour in the afternoon. Likewise, your departure from Delhi on Day 3 should be in the late evening to give you the full day to explore the monuments and catch your flight or train comfortably after visiting all the planned sites.
Day-wise tour plan:
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi and Drive to Jaipur
Upon your morning arrival at Delhi airport or train station, you will be met by our company driver. From there, you will begin your drive to Jaipur, a journey of approximately 270 kilometers that typically takes around 5-6 hours by road, including a brief stop for lunch and a washroom break en route. Upon arrival in the "Pink City," your tour will begin with two of its most iconic landmarks.
The City Palace is a magnificent complex that served as the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur. This sprawling palace showcases a splendid fusion of Rajput, Mughal, and European architectural styles. The complex houses several courtyards, gardens, and buildings, including the Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal, which have been converted into museums. These museums display a remarkable collection of royal costumes, textiles, and ancient weaponry, offering a deep insight into the luxurious lifestyle of the former rulers. The City Palace is open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Jantar Mantar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. It features a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments, including the world's largest stone sundial. These instruments were designed to measure time, predict eclipses, and track celestial bodies. The observatory stands as a testament to the scientific and astronomical knowledge of the era. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
After your visits, you will check into your pre-booked hotel. The evening is yours to have dinner at your leisure, either at the hotel or at a local restaurant, followed by an overnight stay in Jaipur.
